Goaltender Mac Carruth doesn’t seem like he’s posting potential NHL calibre numbers for the Chicago Blackhawks’ AHL and ECHL affiliates – but he provides a solid option for depth at the minor league level, so the club is keeping him around.

It was announced on Tuesday morning that the Blackhawks have inked Carruth to a one-year extension, per CSN’s Tracey Myers. The details of the contract have yet to be released, but should be somewhere around what he made last season (listed, per General Fanager, at $575,000 at the NHL level and $55,000 at the AHL level).

Drafted 191st overall by the Blackhawks in 2010, Carruth went pro within the team’s system in 2013, following his final year of WHL play with the Portland Winterhawks. The now-24-year-old goaltender has spent most of his career at the ECHL level, playing with the Toledo Walleye, Florida Everblades, and Indy Fuel during his career – but has also slowly moved his way into Chicago’s AHL system in recent years.

This past season, he played 17 regular season games at the AHL level, putting up a 6-5-2 record and posting a .926 save percentage in all situations. Although he struggled in the postseason, putting up a .854 save percentage, he did well in his ECHL games, as well – putting up a 12-10-3 record and a .918 save percentage.
