Marian Hossa returning for Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks have been without top six veteran winger Marian Hossa for their last nine consecutive games, as the 37 year old forward has sat out with a leg injury.

Now, though, he’ll return to the lineup – which is going to be huge.

The Blackhawks confirmed on Friday morning that Hossa will return to the lineup for the Central Division club tonight as they take on the Dallas Stars, looking to rebound from a recent 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues earlier this week.

This is especially big for the Blackhawks, as they’ll be back to health while the Dallas Stars are without a large chunk of their own lineup heading into the game; the divisional rivals in Texas are without forward Patrick Sharp and three defensemen – Jordie Benn, Brenden Dillon, and John Klingberg. This, therefore, will help the Blackhawks as much as it hurts the Stars.

With 10 goals and 28 points over 54 games this year, the Blackhawks haven’t gotten as much from Hossa this year as they have in the past – but with a strong two-way presence, it’s likely that the former first round pick (taken 12th overall by the Ottawa Senators in 1997) will still contribute in a big way.

The two clubs will face off at 7:30 PM CST tonight at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
