It’s a busy day on the waiver wire, with the Arizona Coyotes claiming Jiri Sekac from the Chicago Blackhawks, who waived him yesterday. Sekac joined the Blackhawks from the Anaheim Ducks, in a trade that sent Ryan Garbutt the other way.

The 23-year-old journeyman only played six games for the Blackhawks, posting a lone assist and a minus-one rating. In 22 games with the Ducks, Sekac was just as unlucky, with only one goal and two assists. He’s also posted six penalty minutes this season and plays 11 minutes per game on average.

In other big waiver news, the Washington Capitals have placed Brooks Laich on waivers. Laich, 32, has played in 59 games this season for the league-leading Capitals, but has only recorded one goal and six assists. It was rumored they were going to attempt to package his $4.5 million cap hit in a trade deadline deal, but seem to have chosen to bury some of it in the AHL instead.

The Minnesota Wild also have a player hitting the waiver wire today, as they are hoping to assign center Chris Porter to their AHL team. Porter, 31, has posted seven points in 51 games for the Wild.

Last, but not least, the Boston Bruins have placed Max Talbot on waivers. Talbot, who they acquired last season in a trade with the Colorado Avalanche, has played in 36 games for the Bruins this season, with two goals and four assists.
