The Chicago Blackhawks dealt a first round selection – and prospect centre Marko Dano – to bring veteran forward Andrew Ladd into the system to help with their upcoming playoff run.
He may not be available for the first game of the postseason, though.
Mark Potash of the Chicago Sun-Times confirmed that Ladd is a game-time decision for the team’s upcoming game tonight, as his wife could give birth soon:
#Blackhawks F Andrew Ladd will be a "game-time decision" for Game 1. His wife is having a baby.

Drafted fourth overall by the Carolina Hurricanes in 2004, Ladd contributed with eight goals and 12 points in 19 games following the 2016 trade deadline, bringing his 2015-16 regular season totals to 25 goals and 46 points on the year.
He’s expected to be a top contributor for the Blackhawks as they look to win their fourth Stanley Cup in seven years, so missing him in even one game could be a bit of a blow. The good news, though, is that the forward won’t be missing for an injury – so there isn’t the concern that he’ll be out for any lengthy period of time.
The Blackhawks will face the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday for the first game of their 2016 post-season, with puck drop set to occur at 7:30 PM CST. The Blues hold home ice advantage for the first series, and will therefore host the first two games of the best of seven.
