The Chicago Blackhawks strengthened their blue line for the future Thursday, agreeing to terms with Carl Dahlstrom on a three-year contract that begins next season.

Dahlstrom spent the majority of this campaign in his native Sweden, recording one goal and seven assists in 50 regular-season games with Linkoping HC of the Swedish Hockey League. He also notched one assist in six postseason contests for the club.

The 21-year-old Dahlstrom did make his way overseas after the SHL playoffs and has posted a plus-1 rating while registering five shots on goal in three contests with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League.

Selected in the second round of the 2013 draft, Dahlstrom made his North American debut last season and recorded one assist in two games with Rockford. Prior to joining the IceHogs, he collected three goals and six points in 55 contests with Linkoping.

A native of Stockholm, the 6-foot-4, 228-pound Dahlstrom has amassed four goals and 11 assists in 117 regular-season games for Linkoping while notching a tally and five points in 31 playoff contests.
