Add another memorable chapter to the Chicago Blackhawks-St. Louis Blues’ 2016 first-round series story. For the fifth consecutive game, just one goal separated the two rivals. Unlike the last two games, it was Chicago who got that goal in Game 5, a game which began on Thursday night and ended on Friday at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.
Patrick Kane provided the heroics by scoring the game-winning goal in a second overtime and gave the Blackhawks a 4-3 victory. The series returns to Chicago with the Blues still leading 3-2.
Brian Hedger and Scott Powers were there in St. Louis for the game and stuck around afterward to record a podcast and break down everything that happened in Game 5. Hedger and Powers will be recording podcasts following every game of the series.
Scott Powers has been covering the Blackhawks for the past four seasons. He was a staff writer for ESPN Chicago from 2009-2015 and covered the Blackhawks for them for three seasons. He is now a staff contributor for The Athletic in Chicago. He has also written for Today’s Slapshot, the Chicago Sun-Times, the Chicago Tribune, USA Hockey Magazine and other publications throughout the country.
