The Vancouver Canucks drafted 19-year-old Swedish blue liner Gustav Forsling with the 126th overall draft selection at the 2014 NHL Entry Draft – and now, it looks like he may be heading to North America.

Hockeysverige.se reported on Wednesday morning that Forsling is in the process of inking a three year entry-level deal with the Chicago Blackhawks, who acquired the defenseman in January of 2015 for fellow defenseman Adam Clendening.

A native of Linkoping, Sweden, Forsling took home the distinction as the defenseman with the most goals scored at both the 2015 and 2016 U20 World Junior Championships, and racked up quite an impressive scoring sheet for SHL club Linkoping HC this season, as well. The teenager finished the year with six goals and 21 points in 48 regular season games, then added three points in six playoff contests this spring as well; if he can translate his scoring ability from the Swedish league to North America, he’ll be a huge asset for the Blackhawks.

Although the deal hasn’t been confirmed yet on the North American end, Sverige reported that the deal is expected to be a three-year entry level deal, and will include a Europe loan clause enabling Forsling to return to Linkoping for the 2016-17 season if he is unable to break Chicago’s roster out of training camp.
