The Chicago Blackhawks have been without forward Marian Hossa for the last seven consecutive games with a leg injury, but they may be getting closer to his return.
Per Tracey Myers of CSN, the 37 year old forward is nearing the point where can re-enter the lineup, with Wednesday being the projected hopeful return date against the St. Louis Blues. The team has already confirmed that he won’t make it into the lineup for the team’s Sunday game against the Detroit Red Wings, but the hope that he could be back by Wednesday is certainly a step in the right direction for the Central Division club’s top six forward.
Drafted 12th overall by the Ottawa Senators in 1997, Hossa has been an integral part of Chicago’s roster since the 2009-10 season. He’s been a part of their last three Stanley Cup championship-winning rosters, and boasts an impressive fourteen NHL seasons with at least 20 goals scored (seven of which saw him score 30 or more goals, as well).
This season, Hossa is still contributing well enough, despite his age. He boasts 10 goals and 28 points through 54 games in the 2015-16 campaign, which has pushed him to 1,084 career NHL points over 1,226 career NHL games.
With Hossa hopefully in the lineup, the Blackhawks will face the Blues on Wednesday at 7:00 PM CST in St. Louis, Missouri.
