The Chicago Blackhawks have announced that the club and defenseman Robin Norell, have come to an agreement on a three-year contract.

Norell, 21, was a fourth-round, 111th overall, draft pick of the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2013 NHL Draft and has spent the season playing for Djurgårdens IF of the Swedish League. Skating in 51 games this season Norell has recorded two goals and six assists, accumulating only 16 penalty minutes and maintained a plus-1 rating while patrolling the clubs blue line.
Set to make his North American regular season debut with the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs, the 5’11, 194-pound defenseman played three games with the IceHogs in last season’s AHL playoffs. In his three games he was held off the score sheet.
The Stockholm, Sweden native represented Tre Kronor in the 2014 and 2015 World Junior Championship (WJC). In his two WJC tournament appearances Norell has a goal and an assist in 14 total games and a plus-3 rating. In the 2014 WJC he won a silver medal with Sweden.
