The Chicago Blackhawks have seen veteran winger Marian Hossa record 13 goals and 32 points over 63 games for the Central Division club this season – and while that’s a step down from his traditional levels of offensive production, it’s still plenty of value added to the lineup.
That meant that an injury midway through the season certainly hurt the Blackhawks – and now, missing another game with illness will leave them without the forward once again.
The Blackhawks confirmed on Thursday morning that Hossa, who scored his 499th career NHL goal on March 29th, wouldn’t travel to Winnipeg with the club for their upcoming game against their Manitoba rivals tomorrow.
The reason for missing the game, per Tracey Myers of CSN, is illness – which could be a good sign that Hossa will only be out short-term. Still, for the Blackhawks (who have just finally started to turn their play around after a tough losing stretch a few weeks ago), it’s a blow they don’t need to their lineup – especially when goaltender Corey Crawford is already missing for an injury of his own.
The Blackhawks and the Jets will play on Friday evening at 7:00 PM CST at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Chicago will be looking to come back from their tough 4-1 loss earlier this week, while the Jets will look to halt a three-game losing streak of their own.
